In this section of my website, new for 2012, I am going to work on some projects as well as publish information about projects I have already recently worked on. There are also a number of projects that I would like to find time to work on for several reasons. These could be for new challenges, to help others (such as my daughters Air Cadet squadron to raise funds) so that I am constantly improving and expanding my skill set while others benefit from the work.
This site, fat-belly, was built with DotNetNuke, a content management system that uses SQL Server and ASP.NET/C# as its basis. All very familiar to me and quite easy to build and manage. My daughters Air Cadet squadron had an old website that used Joomla as its basis but it was old, had not been updated for a while, the Joomla version was out of date so a combination of offering to help and a request for help spurred me to learn Joomla, how it worked, build a skin for it, and so on. This involved collaboration with the staff to what they wanted their site to look like, (nice and simple) but the security of groups of users rather than individuals. Anyway, the end result can be found at www.oakleyaircadets.org.uk and some of the details of how this was achieved can be found under the Projects menu in the menu option, Oakley Air Cadets.
As I progress I will update here and open up the menu links so that you can see some of my work
